Water from a ground water source has consistent quality and taste. Ground water's taste reflects its surrounding area's geology-rock and soil layers that filter the water through the years as it percolates down to the aquifer. Most public tap water comes from surface-water sources and travels through pipes to reach your home. Its taste and quality varies more day to day.

From A Protected, Remote Source

Nicolet Natural Artesian Water (pronounced Nick-o-LAY) comes from our 63 acres of land in northeastern Wisconsin that is surrounded by the 661,400 acres of Nicolet National Forest. Our water source and bottling operation are 8 miles east of Mountain, Wis., in Oconto County-the gateway to the Nicolet National Forest-about 70 miles northwest of Green Bay, Wis.

  • This ideally isolated location assures you protection and purity, now and for the future.

Under the towering timbers, Nicolet Natural rises to the surface naturally through our artesian wells that tap an aquifer of ground water confined by granite rock.

  • Artesian water is ground water confined under pressure between layers of relatively impermeable, underground rock-called a confined aquifer. Artesian water naturally rises to the top of the aquifer and sometimes above land when a well taps the confined aquifer.

Natural Protection From Pollution

This area's geological and hydro-geological features-including 40-feet-think to 90-feet-thick clay layers deep below the ground, spanning six square miles-cover and protect Nicolet Natural Artesian Water's aquifer from man-made pollution. Nicolet Natural contains no nitrates; it is naturally free of chemicals.

Hydro-geologists have determined it takes at least 20 years for rain and melting snow to seep into our deep, pristine aquifer nestled under the woods. We are proud of our source and the absolute purity of our water.

  • Nicolet Natural tastes so good...only nature could have invented it.

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest

Consider the Source - Nicolet National Forest Sign

The Nicolet National Forest (pronounced Nick-o-LAY) encompasses nearly 661,400 acres of mixed, hardwood-conifer forests interspersed with lowland swamps, glacial lakes and wetlands in northeastern Wisconsin. It comprises the eastern portion of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Oconto, Oneida and Vilas counties, with headquarters in Rhinelander and Park Falls, Wis.

Native American Indians first explored and settled this region followed by voyageurs, missionaries, loggers, farmers and miners. In 1634, French explorer Jean Nicolet discovered what the native American Indians already knew to be a beautiful resource of rich land. A national forest was established and named in his honor 300 years later, in 1933. The U.S. Forest Service protects and manages the national forest.
