News About The Bottled Water Industry
Ask questions. Seek quality information. Think critically.
Bottled water is convenient and portable. People depend upon bottled water for safe drinking water during natural disasters and emergencies. It's always there when you need it. And bottled water is the second most popular beverage in the United States, according to the International Bottled Water Association.
Yet some people have been questioning bottled water's environmental impact and safety. We at Nicolet Forest Bottling Company are closely monitoring concerns, discussions and research about packaging, phthalates, bisphenol A (BPA), recycling and groundwater resource management. We believe bottled water can be packaged and consumed safely and responsibly, and our company is committed to this.
We recommend you:- Buy bottled water in 3-gallon or 5-gallon containers to fill reusable containers to carry with you, limiting the amount of plastic you consume.
- Recycle everything that can be.
- Use food and beverage containers as they were originally intended. Recycle singe-use containers rather than reuse them.
- Don't microwave polycarbonate plastic (PC, #7) food containers or wash them in the dishwasher with harsh detergents. This plastic is strong and durable, but over time may break down from repeated use at high temperatures.
- Practice moderation.
- Apply common sense and keep issues in perspective.
