Nicolet Water Quality: Fresh From The Forest

Water Quality Begins At The Source

Nicolet Natural Artesian Water (pronounced Nick-o-LAY) naturally rises to the surface through our artesian wells that tap an aquifer of underground water confined by granite rock. This protected source is located under our 63 acres of land in northeastern Wisconsin surrounded by the 661,400 acres of Nicolet National Forest.

  • Natural Protection From Pollution. This area's geological and hydro-geological features-including 40-feet-thick to 90-feet-thick clay layers deep below the ground, spanning six square miles-cover and protect Nicolet Natural Artesian Water's aquifer from man-made pollution. Nicolet Natural contains no nitrates; it is naturally free of chemicals.

Ground water's taste reflects its surrounding area's geology-rock and soil layers that filter water as it percolates down into an aquifer. Under the towering timbers, hydro-geologists have determined it takes at least 20 years for rain and melting snow to seep into our pristine source and become Nicolet Water.

  • Mother Nature provides an ideal composition of minerals that give Nicolet Natural its crisp, delicious taste-not too much or too little. And it's low in sodium.

This ideally isolated location assures you protection and purity, now and for the future, which other water-bottled or tap-cannot guarantee.

Minimally and meticulously handled on its journey from underground, through our sealed bottling system and into the bottle protects Nicolet Natural's quality and taste. We use only micron filters to remove any naturally occurring sediment and ozonate the water to destroy any naturally occurring microorganisms. Neither process alters the water's natural structure, mineral composition or taste.

We bottle in filtered, positive air-pressure rooms for the most sanitary conditions. All this means the first time Nicolet Natural contacts air is when you open the bottle.

Rigorously tested. Nicolet Forest Bottling Company is regulated, inspected and tested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA).

Nicolet Natural is tested daily for pH, ozone concentration, conductivity levels, coliform bacteria and taste. An independent laboratory conducts weekly bacteriological tests.

Bacteria tests are also performed on caps and bottles to ensure they are sanitized and bacteria free. The filling machines, cappers, nozzles and the conveyors are sanitized daily with an approved solution, and rinsed with ozonated water to ensure a quality product. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) material certification is on file for everything that contacts Nicolet Natural.

All bottled water companies are required to conduct an extensive, microbiological chemical analysis of their water annually. This measures pesticides, and inorganic and organic compounds. Once every two years a radiological test is required.

  • Nicolet Natural Artesian Water's December 2008 annual water test met all FDA, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and International Bottled Water Association Standards Of Quality.

Naturally Occurring Fluoride

Nicolet Natural Artesian Water contains a trace of naturally occurring fluoride, .2 mg/L. This is well below the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) maximum contaminate level for fluoride of 4 mg/L. Should you desire more fluoride in your diet, we suggest you consult your physician and dentist; too much fluoride can be harmful.
